Have you ever thought about stump grinding? It’s really an interesting line of work that combines strength and skill, takes you to different parts of the community and lets you interact with a variety of people.

Stump grinding is really about solving problems, namely disposing of big stumps. Other landscapers or arborists may have already come in and thinned trees by removing the branches and main trunk. But now the property owner has to figure out what to do with the stump.

The answer is to remove it safely, effectively and in a way that doesn’t damage the stump’s surroundings or make a permanent mess.

Getting started will require a blend of know-how and equipment. If you’re smart, you’ll have some experience working with trees and plants, preferably as an arborist or in some sort of timber operations. This includes knowing how wood acts and behaves, different types of wood and trees and how best to get it from a living tree to scrap wood. Being used to plenty of splinters is a must of course.

On the equipment side, you’ll need basic personal protection like safety glasses and thick gloves, and a shirt that you don’t mind getting dirty and scratched up. If you’ve put a crew together, they’ll also need similar functional apparel.

You’ll need some kind of winch and chain system to pull on stubborn stumps. This can include using the engine of your trick to help pull and add force. You can even increase the pulling power by bringing in two vehicles or more, but this does require some coordination and precise timing to make sure one vehicle doesn’t get into gear or pull more than the other.

A lot of this comes from knowledge and familiarity of what kind of force is needed to successfully yank an old stump from the ground.
You’ll also need a chipper or mulcher or grinder, or a trailer to bring the pulled stump somewhere else for grinding.

Don’t forget to get the word out, since since there are many others who offer tree lopping Brisbane and stump grinding Brisbane, you need a way to stand out from the crowd. Consider a colorful logo on the side of your truck or creating a catchy jingle on a radio or TV ad.

Customer service also goes a long way. If you solve a customer’s stump removal problem quickly and clean up as much as you can, they’ll be ecstatic. You can go the extra mile and make sure to pull remaining roots or at least see foresee if they’ll be a problem in the future.
